In February 2017 I found out I had fibroids and my world came crashing down on me.

I literally felt like it was shutting down on me!

I didn’t know a thing about fibroids specifically the type, size and even the location they were at which are the most important factors to consider when seeking for treatment options.

It would be ridiculous to tell you not to worry or be anxious about the diagnosis you just received but I live by the mantra that says, ‘Don’t stress about things you cannot change’

Instead, think of solutions/treatment options.

Your best bet is to:

1. Research About Fibroids

Get your facts together before panicking or looking for treatment options.

You need to understand what fibroids are and as mentioned above the size, location and type of fibroids you have, this will dictate the type of treatment you should subscribe too.

As you research go for trusted sources such as fibroids advocates who have probably walked in your shoes before, get books written on fibroids, listen to fibroid warriors’ testimonies on YouTube and talk to a trusted professional gynecologists obstetrician.

2. No one size fits all when it comes to treatment options/solutions

Fibroids can either be symptomatic or asymptomatic depending on the size, location and types. Therefore, there is no one size fits all type of treatment or solution. Treat your diagnosis as unique to you that’s the best way to settle on a treatment option that would work best for you.

3.Make a decision

A stitch in time saves nine’.

In this case if you have been diagnosed with symptomatic fibroids, settle for a treatment option and go for it, you ought to get treated and healed from fibroids. As much as it hurts me to say this, things could get worse.

Don’t suffer in silence. Get help.

4.Support Systems

People who won’t question every decision you make and will be with you at least a mile if not all the way through your fibroid journey is more than necessary.

You are human, you are meant to break, cry, want to give up especially when you are unwell.

You need people who will show up for you during this critical time.

You got this, all the best and am praying that you become a fibroid warrior sooner than later.

Xoxo,

Tabby

Thank you so much for this. I found out I have fibroids in 2016 during a routine pregnancy scan. They grew so fast, made my belly look much larger than normal, and then came the pain from degeneration. I had to have an emergency c section then to save my baby at 32weeks. Second pregnancy wasn't so bad...I'm now expecting my 3rd baby. Apart from Hyperemesis, I'm hoping these fibroids will remain calcified. After this I'm hopefully getting a partial hysterectomy. This journey has been difficult..... I feel like I've been pregnant for 5 years. I just thank God I'm able to get these babies. It's a blessing
