When I think of the word ‘Power’ the first thing that comes to my mind is being able to #DoItAllBeItAll.

That’s includes all areas of my life.

Power means control. Being able to have a grip over your life giving you the edge you need to be the most productive.

I think about change, being able to challenge the norm and embrace the new, that’s the only way we grow I believe.

The term ’Period Power’ for me means a change of narrative around how best to align your life so that your period works for you.

How do you do this? You may wonder, bearing in my mind that almost every woman dreads their period days. Unless it is not accompanied by bad cramps, heavy bleeding etc.

I figured that if I would take time to ‘LISTEN’ to my body during my period days (mine go for 5-6 days) and try and create a routine that would help me get the most done I would call it a good day /win for me!

Allow me to break it down for you.

Day 1 and 2

Symptoms:

Very painful cramps that starts with very little bleeding and progresses to very heavy bleeding on day 2.

Solution:

Use aromatherapy (light up some scented candles) and some pain killers to drown the pain and help my uterine muscles that are causing the cramping to relax.

Therefore, I try and tackle this day’s work (really hard work) that requires most mental effort the day before.

Meaning, am left with little or the easier workload to tackle. Which works perfectly for me.

I also show-up and show out for most of my work meetings on this first 2 days.

Because other than the cramps that can be controlled by aroma therapy and a pain killer, I do have the mental capacity, strength and concentration to hold a meeting and crash my goals for the week.

Day 3 to 5

Ring the alarm because I will not be showing up for nothing!

Symptoms:

On these days my period is normally the worst, from the crazy bloat I would be experiencing to heavy bleeding and cramping!

We are not taking chances!

Solutions:

I would rather be cuddled in bed if work permits. If not, then something has to give!

Guess what that would be? No meetings at all, whether work related or social ones.

A good slice of my favorite cake and some chamomile tea would be a great pick me up to help me relax and feel less sad, moody and so angry!

Avoiding bloat triggers such as coffee do help a lot!

Day 6

We are done and dusted to be precise!

If I could I would probably throw a party and celebrate the end of my period.

So yah, it back to life as usual. Am back on fire!

Having the knowledge of how my period behaves has given me power over it as you can tell from my period routine!

It has supported my mental health by allowing me to feel and respond to my mood and the way my physical body feels creating more flexibility and stability for me!

Using the right pads during that time of the month also goes a long way in ensuring that I stay comfortable helping me get the most done on days when I can.

When I can’t, it allows me to have one less thing to worry about!

I must say the Always feather Soft 2 in 1 Pads have become a go to for me, have you tried them yet?

If not, do so and share you experience with me.

Knowledge is power!

I hope that this article will give you more flexibility and stability during your period days.

Thanks for stopping by.

Xoxo,

Tabby
